Jack Nicholson

Aaand finished, as far as I can tell.

Totally Obscure Celebrity

I've drawn Jack Nicholson several times so I feel I'm getting the hang of him. Another work in progress.

More Assorted Sketchings

Sorry I made the last files so big... these should be a bit easier to read. Some more caricature sketches from many different sources.

Assorted Sketchings

Just a few interesting things taken out of my sketchbooks and from loose papers... some are much older than others. I try to stretch my skills in character design and caricature simultaneously... sometimes it's hard to switch back and forth, for though the two share many similarities, what is appropriate for illustration is often not appropriate for animation.

Ben Linus Finished

Finished! Er, for now. Actually this required far too much tweaking and pushing and I don't think I'll touch it for a while. Ben's character is very elusive but I hope I've touched something there.

Ben Linus WIP

In honor of the arrival of Lost Season 5, which is off to a glorious start.

Michael Emerson is one of my muses. I've tried to capture his wonderful face many times, and I think there are so many directions to take. This is my favorite so far.

I will get it to a more finished state when I have time...

Luna

My girlfriend Luna has been known to appear in my art now and then. I took the above photo with her miraculous new camera.

Photography

I'm not a, er, hardcore photographer, but I do enjoy it. It challenges my eye to recognize good color and composition. These photos are all taken in Savannah GA, where I go to school.

Caricatures of Friends

Two of my delightful friends. Can you guess which is my girlfriend?

Ah, the infinite cavern of cyberspace...

My name is Sagan Lacy, and I like Hawaiian shirts. This may possibly be how I discovered my interest in animation. I live alternately in Virginia, where my home is, and in Savannah, as a low-life college student. I enjoy acting and singing, although I no longer do either with any frequency. More than these, I enjoy drawing and have a love of animation and caricature art. I also enjoy talking at great length about stuff in something emulating philosophical discussion. Entertainment is important to me, and I become irked when it is ineptly delivered or used for evil, so I try to keep a critical eye and learn how to do my job right.

Sebastian Kruger is probably my single favorite artist; he is a hero to anyone who develops a passion for caricature. I also adore the works of directors Chuck Jones and Brad Bird, of character designers like Stephen Silver and Ben Balistreri, of caricature artists like Joe Bluhm and Jason Seiler, and many many more. Really, great designers of any kind inspire me to get off my bony bottom and improve my work.

Learning is a never-ending road, but that's no excuse for stalling! This is my way of making an empty promise to update my blog at regular intervals for the next 50 years. If this does not come to pass, feel free, should the notion take you, to write a furious letter calling for my execution by firing squad if I do not update within the hour. Out of pure selflessness, I will try to oblige.
